Inflatable belly boats or pontoon boats are very popular as they are very portable and do a great job for the fly fisherman and make great fly fishing boats. The belly boat is usually quite small and will often fit in the trunk of a car. Because it is lighter in weight the belly boat is much easier to tote around. There are types of belly boats that have solid bladders too, but these are much heavier. Pontoon boats are great for moving waters or still water. They are easier to get in and out of than belly boats which can pitch forward when you are trying to get out of them.
Flat bottom or skiff fly fishing boats are popular too. They are sturdy and stable. Some have casting platforms and usually allow for some dry storage areas. Float tubes are probably the simplest form of fly fishing boats. Basically it is an inner tube with a seat and back rest. These are best used for calm waters.
