Fly Fishing Hats Make Perfect Sense

While you probably live in your baseball cap most of the time, it probably won’t serve you very well when you are fly fishing.  It’s good in a pinch when you have nothing else available but consider an alternative.  Fly fishing hats come in several styles with various features.  Fly fishing hats should be comfortable and durable. There are wide brimmed hats, safari style hats, Tilly hats, and hats with back flaps to keep the sun off your neck.

Good fly fishing hats keep the sun out of your eyes and shade you from the glare off the water.  The hat should also dry quickly and have a brim wide enough and long enough to keep the rain off your face. It should be sturdy enough that it won’t blow away easily. Look for double stitching around the band; this will make the hat more durable. Choose a hat that does not knock your sunglasses off every time you put it on.

When looking for a good hat check for one that has good air ventilation to stop you from getting overheated.  Another consideration is to get a hat that floats in the off chance that the wind blows it off your head.  Fly fishing hats are very important pieces of gear.  Take the time to find one that suits you.
