Sun, Surf and Variety Equals Great Fly Fishing in Costa Rica

When you visit there, sun, surf and heat combine to make some of the best fly fishing in Costa Rica that you will ever find.  If you are looking for a trip with that exotic feel you will enjoy your time in Costa Rica.  You can try your hand at fly fishing for sailfish or tarpon, both found in abundance here.

There are many small, specialty lodges that cater to fly fishing in Costa Rica.  These well equipped operations give the fisherman the best of both worlds, a chance to fish for the unusual, with the comforts of home. Be warned however, if you have members of your party who do not enjoy fishing, many of the lodges have little else in the way of entertainment. Most Costa Ricans speak English so there is no worry that you will struggle with the local language.

We advise that you hire a charter for the best experience when fly fishing in Costa Rica.  These guides will show you the prime spots to cast your line.  Most charter companies will not provide fly fishing gear so you must bring your own.  We love the area around Golfito with its access to both inland and offshore fishing.  You haven’t lived until you have landed a black marlin or Pacific sailfish.  Give this beautiful area a visit and you will return year after year.
