Reviews of Fly Fishing Gear Can Offer Insight Before Buying
If you’re in the market for new equipment, it’s always a good idea to seek out reviews of fly fishing gear before you spend any hard earned cash. Fly-fishing magazines are always a great source of information on the latest gear, as well as tips on technique, maintenance and where to find the best deals. If you’re on a tight budget, you don’t even have to spend money researching magazines at a bookstore – go to one of the best information resources in your community – the local library.

At home, you still have a couple of options to find reviews of fly fishing gear. Probably the most obvious is your computer. A quick search of the internet will no doubt result in enough information to keep you reading for as long as you can tolerate it. The trick is to weed out the ‘reviews’ that are really just advertisements for a manufacturer from those that are truly unbiased and are speaking from experience.

Another source of information at home is your television. Check your local program guide for shows dedicated to the sport – there’s a good chance you’ll find them doing reviews of fishing gear there as well. Same caution though; don’t forget that these features rely on sponsors, so if you see a show giving a glowing report on an item – watch the next commercial to see if the same company is also their sponsor!
